The Detroit Lions will host the Cleveland Browns at 7:30PM to kick off the preseason for both teams, with a game on Friday, August 10th at Ford Field. The starter for the preseason game this week will be right tackle Mitchell Schwartz for the Browns, thanks to coach Pat Shurmur. Shurmur had god things to say about the rookie in interviews, calling him smart and very good with the technique that he is using. In practices, Schwartz has been up against Jabaal Sheard, who started last year for the Browns in all sixteen games of the season.
The Detroit Lions ended up fifth in the NFL offense last year and they ended with a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the wild card game. Detroit has the dynamic duo of Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson that they will be putting on display, and they also have backups Shaun Hill and Kellen Moore, a rookie. The Lions' offense will undoubtedly improve as rookie receiver Ryan Broyles gets more experience under his belt and the defense will be hoping to chance all of the points given up last season.
